I bought at $10–and $25–don’t be angry; there’s alot of time.

Horse betting is the perfect analogy. I trade back and forth between AGQ and ZSL to try and profit off the volatility of silver. Both of those ETFs are double-leveraged. For every ounce of silver I buy (or short) I am being lent an ounce to buy or short as well. Not once have I ever expected to get physical delivery of the silver I was long or short on. If they represented physical bullion then there wouldn’t be long term decay in both of those securities. They are strictly for short term bets.

@PontifexMagnanimous I think the better question is – how many people actually know about the hearing’s preceedings? We follow all this stuff closely so to us it’s big news, but in the mainstream it was like a fart in a hurricane.

  6. dotsthots Says:

@PontifexMagnanimous I totally agree with your last sentence. We can’t know all the machinations of the markets – where money is involved there’s bound to be dodgyness. However, a lot of people seem to actually implicitly trust markets and the institutions involved – just look at the mainstream sentiment to any allegations of fraud regardless of whether something fraudulent is occurring or not – they are summarily rejected out of hand with no investigation. That’s the problem!

  7. PontifexMagnanimous Says:

@dotshots Maybe you are right about the analogy missing something?.. Maybe this is better; The paper silver market is like betting on fantasy football where the only real thing about it is the word football or rather the “word” silver. If you are not holding silver in your hand you’re not holding anything but a paper wish and a prayer.

  8. PontifexMagnanimous Says:

@dotshots What came of the hearings? How many people have demanded their gold be delivered? They hold a paper contract. The fine print says that the account can be satisfied with paper not physical. Supply and demand are an economic factor like if the horse had a good breakfast or not. If you were right gata would make a fuck but they don’t.

  9. dotsthots Says:

How the horse runs its race is unrelated to supply and demand for horses. The price of silver or gold is, so if someone sells the same metal over and over that demand doesn’t make it’s way into price discovery. The horse analogy isn’t one.

  10. dotsthots Says:

Did you actually watch the CFTC hearing? I keep hearing the same myths perpetuated. Jeffrey Christian was discussing the LBMA “physical” market for gold, not silver. The issue was nothing to do with trading or betting, it was specifically related to unallocated accounts. Regarding these accounts… the LBMA website says “…commonly used method of holding metal”. Note the word “holding”. The people using this service believe they own the metal.

But he ain’t bullshittin anyone. Plus I don’t even know why it matters to him. He’s a cool dude who is very wise. He knows nice guys almost always finish last. That liars, douchebags, and nut jugglers get very far in this fucked up world of ours. You either are the nice guy or the douchebag. And if you’re nice just accept the fact that your popularity will remain limited but know the ppl that do know you are more genuine and of a higher caliber of character. Fuck all the actors.

@cityguyable Why I otta!!….. Aren’t you the guy that started this shit by liking a STG video homie? lol

Now look, and you can check with Cory on this, WE came up with the horse analogy and he can pump out videos at the speed of light. So shit I look like the rip off.. lol

  19. cityguyable Says:

You were beating a dead horse with Cory’s horse betting analogy. lol. Sean and Cory have something in common. Cory makes silver videos knowing damn well he’d rather not cuz there just isn’t anything new to really discuss but he does it anyway cuz he knows that probably half his subs wanna hear him talk about it. He doesn’t do adcents but he’s a human, we all have ego and want to remain relevant regardless of how we act like it doesn’t matter to us. He watches his numbers. Love the dude but he a
