HISTORIC race, HORSE HAD HEART and did the War Admiral a final blow. Gotta love that Seabiscuit.

Love Seabiscuit! I plan to get his Breyer figure at some point. I won’t compare him to other champion horses, each were special in their own way. But Seabiscuit was a hero, when the country was looking for one. I kinda go more for the true underdogs, the ones that no one thought would ever amount to anything, but he sure proved them wrong! The book is even better than the movie.

My father saw him race and always said he was the greatest horse of his time. I still get chills watching this actuial footage or the movie`s take on this great race. Great horse great story just what the people needed at that time.

Seabiscuit was a god among men.

@MarcoMontana22
Oh and you should watch Secretariat if you think this race was chilling. Secretariat won the Belmont Stakes at an amazing 31 lengths. That’s what I call a horse with wings.

I’m watching Seabiscuit right now on HBO and had to come watch this video.
March 27th, 2012 at 2:33 am
@MarcoMontana22 Seabiscuit was an amazing horse, if i lived back then he would of been my hero. I watched this movie last night in a long time too! haha

Saw this movie last night with Toby Maguire, was instantly hooked in and found it a wonderful movie, after seeing the story of Se Biscuit and the tribulations of both He and his jockey Red Pollard I was intrigued to know if this was a true story… Today I see the actual race against War Admiral and it brought a chill to me knowing that the story was true! Absolutely amazing horse and story of his life….

The audacity of the jockey to whip Sea Biscuit to the lead instantly shows that this race was never going to be a gimmick.
From the first turn and the entire back straight the constant urging was relentless.
Approaching the sweeping bend, War Admiral throws down the gauntlet and the 2 warriors eye-ball each other in a brutal combat of speed/endurance and courage.
Top of the home stretch, under punishing riding,Sea Biscuit digs deep to find a winning margin.
Impossible stuff-Great race!.

@mtoasty It’s, “So long, Charley.” Charley Kurtsinger was War Admiral’s jockey.

Man. This is why we love great horses. The quality of the vision is extraordinary. As a kid growing up in Australia, I always had racehorse posters on my bedroom wall. Phar Lap of course and my favourite a grey called Gunsynd, who raced in Oz around the time of Secretariat. But the Sea Biscuit back story is so compelling that I can’t watch this without a lump in my throat. What a grand, grand champion he was. Thanks for putting this up. Bless you Sea Biscuit, Red, George and youtube!

@barbaro267 Is that a true story about the substitute jockey, Georgie (as in the movie)?
March 27th, 2012 at 5:33 am
Do these match races happen anymore?
March 27th, 2012 at 6:31 am
This is absolutely EPIC! I love the two horse match races! that way you really do find out who is the better horse. Less chance of accidents or being hemmed in.
War Admiral was a dam good horse, so how good was Sea Biscuit to pull 3-4 lengths clear at the wire! its astonishing what that horse did there beating War Admiral on a going day.
What a race!! we need more match races in races, there fun and very informative as well as exciting! great video!
March 27th, 2012 at 6:33 am
I must say that Sea Buscuit is a wonderful film but this is the first time I have seen this match race for real……my goodness watching that was awesome. They just went hell for leather all the way and the way Sea Buscuit powered away at the end was mightily impressive.
Thanks so much for Uploading this racing gem
