i play just like him…… i mean i bowl like hick.
March 5th, 2012 at 1:59 pm
Kambli was pure dominance against spin…
March 5th, 2012 at 2:34 pm
@venkat2212 Yeah they are hilarious. I hate the BCCI for so many things.
March 5th, 2012 at 2:36 pm
@venkat2212 Just ask the Two Chucks.
March 5th, 2012 at 3:35 pm
@robelinda2 We all hate the BCCI.
March 5th, 2012 at 4:04 pm
@HeartfeltDawn The BCCI is quite capable of such a thing.

Arguably the greatest land handed indian batsmen of all time… What a shame that he didin’t play for too long…He woould have been athe biggest threat to brian lara when it came to style, flair & playing big knocks….

What a waste of talent, two back to back double hundreds and a test average of 54 and jst 17 tests to his credit, astounding!
March 5th, 2012 at 6:03 pm
Brilliant player…. bit too unlucky as well ! He didnt have proper guidance to handle money and fame. What a loss for Indian cricket. I would say equally skilled as Sachin when it comes to cricket. In 2000 I got to watch Sachin and Kambli bat together in Pune against Orissa, it was a treat to watch the two run machines working together.

@robelinda2 Ha! One imagines the BCCI will be out banning all footage of their tour to England this year then. Maybe they could eradicate it, 1984 Orwell style, and change the past so they actually won something, had a decent bowling attack, could play the short ball, and actually field…
March 5th, 2012 at 7:41 pm
@HeartfeltDawn This just highlights the idiocy of youtube – i did try and upload that Kick innings, but the BCCI blocked it. There is consistency at all.
March 5th, 2012 at 8:21 pm
Rob, Graeme Hick hit his highest Test score in the same game. Any chance of you uploading the footage if you have it? Curious that both Kambli and Hick, players who never made the mark they should, got their highest Test scores in the same game.
March 5th, 2012 at 8:43 pm
@ankitsanyal Ironically the video starts with Hick bowling to Kambli, two players with huge ‘what if?’ chapters connected to their career.
March 5th, 2012 at 9:20 pm
@robelinda i’d say a better way to put things into perspective is that kambli was a more talented batsman than tendulkar. tendulkar is a more successful one. afterall only talent makes u a yuvraj singh/herschelee gibbs…to be a lara/ponting/tendulkar/dravid u need hardwork, honesty and passion to offset ur weakness
tendulkar had a weakness against the incoming delivery…he corrected it.
kambli shd have corrected the approach to short balls…
the former is a legend. the latter…”if only”
March 5th, 2012 at 9:44 pm
@ashokatibrewal :bcoz thats how india is,we only learn to see glitter, but I am sorry, I am not ruled by majority,if I (along with few technical experts of cricket of that time)find kambli a better player, so that’s it. I stick to my views nd will support it for ever, plz note that I donot undermine sachin,nd d only player 2 cm close to kambli is only sachin,I only mean, kambli was a few steps ahead, as also expressd by achrekar (look for archives), though u r equally eligible to have ur own views.
March 5th, 2012 at 9:49 pm
@ashokatibrewal I am sorry to say but you are not aware of the kind of lobbying and caste ism in bcci of that time. How do you find Azaruddin to retain his place even though I seldom found him scoring (he was a guest of 15 balls), it all burst up at the match fixing scandal. and being flamboyant, in australia/england, its considered a quality, but not in backward india of the 90’s. I am too a fan of sachin, and I have seen both of them playing, most of u will be suporting sachin,

@Indianmasterify I dont agree mate. If you go through statistics, Sachin from 2003 to 2005 had d worst statistics dan anyone else(except Azaruddin) but he was never droppd, though on the verge of getting droppd. How can u judge a player to b worthless when he has played only 17 tests with 4 100 and 3 50, with consecutive double centuries-a feat yet to b achieved by any other indian batsman. I dont blame u,4om ur comment, I find u r sayin what u hv read in major articles which were biased to core
March 5th, 2012 at 11:48 pm
its was not bcci but the his failure to face the short ball which got him down
March 5th, 2012 at 11:55 pm
he was a brilliant player but there is no need to compare with sachin because he ruined himself with alcohol… ;(
March 6th, 2012 at 12:17 am
@ladcameo- you hit the nail on the head ” no politics bullshit..”-love the comment.
March 6th, 2012 at 12:50 am
@ subhaya and robelinda2 are u guys serious kambli better than tendulkar? kambli was a flashy player the kind of a batsman we no longer see.very west indian..todays batsman come with coaches behind their backs.notice he high elbow and staight bat, kills the flair.kambli had the typical flair of carribean cricket.but to say he was better than tendulkar is churlish.look at the grace of tendulkar in the 90’s look at laras innings in 92 world cup match 88 notout and his comments on tendulkar.
