In essence, “bluffing” is simply the act of representing a hand stronger than what you’re actually holding. That’s what both players did here. The fact that Ivey had the better hand is mostly irrelevant. First, there’s no way he could’ve known he had the better hand. It’s not like he can see Dwan’s cards. Second, it’s highly likely that this hand would’ve had the exact same result even if the cards were swapped (i.e., if Dwan was dealt the better hand).
I think that could be part of it. My best guess is that Phil saw something in Dwan’s composure that made him look weak. If it was me, I’d say that maybe it was due to Dwan slightly rocking back-and-forth at 1:40, which makes it seem like Dwan could’ve been thinking something like, “Come on, fold. Just get it over with.” It makes Dwan seem somewhat impatient. And, it didn’t make Dwan seem as confident as his composure/posture usually looks when he has a good hand.
I wouldn’t classify this as bluff. It just demonstrates Ivey’s ability to know when he is ahead in the hand. An essential ability for a poker player, one of the reasons Ivey is one of the best… Dwan’s 270K bluff against Ivey is still better though…
shuffling chips is a stress releaser since you can’t smoke cigarettes in a poker room. poker players need to do that to calm themselves when playing under such high pressure.
thats why dwan wins so much money he can get a guy to throw out 85 k with 10 8. Thats what his image does is make players over play there hands. But you have to over play some hands to beat dwan.

Elerza is always falling asleep and Lederer is captivated. Asking Phil for a count sounded more like speculative hand than aces though.

Why are poker players so fidgety? They can’t sit still to save their life. Constantly shuffling the chips and what not.
